About Us

The Los Angeles Sports Council is one of the nation's leading civic sports support organizations. Funded entirely from the private sector, it attracts major sports events to the greater Los Angeles area and supports the area's outstanding collegiate and professional sports teams. Over its history, the non-profit Sports Council has brought events with a collective economic impact of more than $1 billion to the area, using only $12 million in administrative expenses, a ratio of better than $100 in economic impact for every dollar in administrative cost!

The Sports Council also organizes and promotes its own events, including occasional luncheons saluting our local professional teams or events and special programs such as the televised "Unforgettable: The 100 Greatest Moments in Los Angeles Sports History" in 1995. The Sports Council also created the LA Sports Awards, an annual awards presentation televised on Prime Ticket.

The affiliated, but separately chartered Los Angeles Sports Council Foundation conducts charitable programs for underprivileged youth in the area. Its "Touchdown for Youth" program allows thousands of area youngsters to attend a USC home game annually, following up on a unique program born during the 1993 Super Bowl, when a similar program allowed more than 700 youth to attend the NFL's ultimate game.

Founded in 1988, the Sports Council is managed by President David Siegel and a small professional staff. The Board of Directors includes many of the leading sports and business entities and personalities in Southern California and the Council itself includes both individual and corporate members.
