About the eagles nest
The home of the Cal State L.A. Golden Eagles, the Eagles Nest has been the site of two major Olympic-related competitions as well. Opened in 1958, it was the sold-out site for the 1984 Olympic judo competition and was the venue for the men's and women's table tennis tourney during the 1991 U.S. Olympic Festival. The 1983 U.S. National Judo Championships were also held at the facility. In 1994, the venue received a new hardwood floor and upgrades were made to the locker and training rooms. The arena has also been the site of several recent movie shoots.

The Eagles Nest has 3,300 retractable seats, lining each side of the approximately 100 foot wide by 92 foot long hardwood floor. The floor itself was renewed in 1994; the facility capacity was increased to 4,387 for the 1984 Olympic Games and drew capacity crowds to all eight sessions. The ceiling height is 65 feet. In 2003, chairback seating was placed in the lower level of the arena.

The Eagles Nest is located on the Cal State L.A. campus, accessible from the San Bernardino (10) Freeway via the Eastern Avenue off-ramp, or the 710 Freeway Ramona Avenue exit.

Technical information: The floor area at Eagle's Nest is approximately 92 by 100 feet and the hardwood surface was replaced in 1994. There are five spacious locker rooms with large home and visitors locker rooms and three smaller rooms for officials and performers.
There are modest facilities for food service; there are also several meeting rooms within the complex which can be used for hospitality and administrative purposes.
Lighting averages about 1,000 footcandles and the facility has a public address system and scoreboards.
