ABOUT FIRESTONE FIELDHOUSE
Situated in one of the most scenic universities in the nation, Firestone Fieldhouse is the home to the Pepperdine Waves basketball and volleyball teams. Home for the five Waves men's volleyball teams which won NCAA championships in 1978, 1985, 1986, 1992 and 2005, Firestone Fieldhouse became Pepperdine's home floor in 1973 after the campus was moved from the downtown Los Angeles area in 1972. Firestone Fieldhouse was officially dedicated on September 20, 1975, by U.S. President Gerald R. Ford.
The venue provided support facilities in the 1983-84 period for the adjacent Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool, site of the 1983 FINA Water Polo World Cup and in 1984 for the water polo competition at the Games of the XXIIIrd Olympiad.

•The basics:
Firestone Fieldhouse seats 3,104 for basketball and volleyball, but the capacity for theatre-style events can climb to almost 5,000. The main seating sections are contained in retractable floor-level bleachers, but there are also permanent, theatre-style seats upstairs.
The biggest attendance for an athletic event was on February 6, 1976, when a record 4,500 fans packed the facility to watch the Pepperdine men's basketball team upset no. 3-ranked Nevada-Las Vegas, 93-91.

The Pepperdine campus is located close to the Pacific Ocean at Pacific Coast Highway between Malibu Canyon Road and John Tyler Drive. Take John Tyler to access Firestone Fieldhouse.

•Technical information:
The floor area at Firestone is approximately 11,000 feet square. The original rubber flooring was replaced with hardwood in 2003.
There are two team locker rooms and a smaller room for officials. There is a permanent concession stand and scoreboards at each end.
