Ocean courses continue busy in 2003

With the Pacific Ocean on the west, sailing is one of Southern California's most natural sports and has a long history.

Two Olympic regattas have been held in 1932 and 1984, both times on courses in the waters off of Long Beach. The 1991 U.S. Olympic Festival yachting competition was also held in Long Beach and the proposed site for the 2012 Olympic bid were the Long Beach courses.
