About Veterans Stadium
One of the famed local football facilities in Southern California, Veterans Stadium is actually part of Long Beach City College. It has held football and track events of all kinds, but also the 1984 World Speedway Motorcycle Finals! The Long Beach State football program played at Veterans Stadium from 1948 through 1991, after which the program was dropped.
The City of Long Beach and LBCC negotiated a land swap in the early 1990s, jointly upgraded the stadium and make it widely available for area teams today. The memorable match-up between Long Beach Poly High School and Concord De La Salle High School in 2001 was held at Veterans Stadium and drew more than 10,000 spectators as well as a regional television audience.
